UMCOR – Ukraine

First Church Family,
It’s hard to watch the news these days as the reports and videos documenting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are tragic and unsettling.
Please pray for all of those who are now suffering: for the families of the
thousands of people who have lost their lives, for those left in the cities that are presently being bombarded, for the more than 3 million refugees who have made their way to Poland, Romania, and other nations, and for those who are caring for refugees in their respective countries.
Too, please continue to pray for our political leaders and government here, and for the governments of our NATO partner countries, that we all might follow God’s guidance in responding to the war.
Also, pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Ukraine, including our Methodist Ukrainian District Superintendent, the Reverend Oleg Starodubets. Pastor Starodubets is currently working on relocating refugees, including students, to the western part of the Ukraine where it’s presently, at least a bit, safer. He and his team are currently purchasing sleeping bags, food, and other supplies for the refugees.
We talk about the fact that our own United Methodist Committee on Relief is one of the best mission organizations in the world. It is among the top-rated international agencies of relief, alongside the Red Cross, and is on the ground in Ukraine, serving those in need.
I will be making an offering to our church to be sent with yours to UMCOR –
Ukraine. Please join me. Mark your check/offering envelope: Ukraine.
How important it is in most difficult times like these to know that God is with both our Ukrainian family and us!

May God be praised!

Pastor Dave
