First Church Family,

I write this on the first day of Autumn, the most glorious season of the year here in Lenoir (in my opinion). We’ve just completed a busy summer, and have already jumped into our fall programming.

We had quite a celebration Sunday, September 18. Many thanks to those who provided us with a scrumptious BBQ meal and desserts on “Back to Church Sunday,” and also to those who cleaned, refurbished, and updated our congregation’s beautiful library.

In many ways, our church calendar parallels the school year, which means September is a month filled with new beginnings. Thank you to those of you who are living out your faith and loving Christ volunteering as part of our children, youth, adult, and senior adult ministries, all of which have been jump-started this season.

But, those September ministries are only the beginning. Over the next weeks, please be sensitive to announcements about participating in our ministry programs, serving the poor over the fall/winter.

We are already making plans to provide Thanksgiving meals to impoverished families in our county the Saturday before the holiday. (We provided full Thanksgiving meals for 204 families last year.)

And, our Habitat for Humanity build will begin in the next several months!

Our Heavenly Father is powerfully present in our midst! Please, don’t take His love and care for granted during this (or any) season.

Blessings and love,

Pastor Dave
