Lenten Pancake Day

Lenten Pancake Day

Dear FUMC Family,
I pray that you are doing well and experiencing a blessed season of Lent. The word from which our word “Lent” comes is the Old English word: “lencten” which means spring (or the time when daylight hours lengthen.)
How fitting for us, as we begin to come out of winter! I must say that I have “spring fever,” in that I can’t wait to get outdoors and in my gardens.
There are notable dates for us coming up in Lent. I will share details of several of them next week in my next email letter.
Our focus at the moment is our Lenten Pancake Day for Missions, next Tuesday, February 27. Monies raised will support our local ministry partner: Helping Hands Clinic (which provides medical services and pharmacy medications for impoverished people in our county.)
Presently, we have commitments from local elementary principals at Valmead, Davenport, Whitnel, Gamewell, and Oak Hill schools for 1100 students to be served by us from 10:00am to 1:30pm; and then adults from Bethel Colony of Mercy and homeless persons in our county (along with hopefully many adults across our community) during our evening hours of 4:30pm – 7:30pm.
Please help us make Pancake Day a wonderful experience for all by buying and selling tickets and volunteering to be a part of those serving during the event.
God is good, all the time! And all the time, God is good!

Blessings,

Pastor Dave
