Helping the Community

Helping the Community

Dear FUMC Family,
I pray that you are staying warm and healthy. The winter has been long, dark, wet, and cold. And many persons have stayed in and grown discouraged.
At our church, we are going to try to bring our community out and together for one day – Tuesday, February 27, in our third annual Pancake Day. This year all proceeds will go to our local Helping Hands Clinic, which serves the poor.
We will serve, as our guests, more than 1,000 children and staff from Valmead, Davenport, Gamewell, Whitnel Elementary Schools, and Oak Hill Charter School (all of whom will eat for free) delicious pancakes and fixings during the lunch hours of 10:00AM – 1:00PM; and then persons of all ages for dinner from 4:30PM – 7:00PM in our Christian Life Center.
For the evening session, we have invited our friends at Bethel Colony of Mercy and also homeless people in our region to be our guests.
Here are ways we need your help:
1.) Buy tickets for Pancake Day and sell them to your family and friends.
2.) Help underwrite tickets for students and guests, all of whom will eat free.
3.) Volunteer for the event. There are three sessions (one on the 26th, as we set up for Pancake Day; and then morning and evening sessions on the 27th.)
4.) And pray that God will move among us in powerful ways.
The date of the event is in the sacred Christian season of Lent. Our hope is to bring many people in Caldwell County together for a day enjoying one another’s company and raising money for a wonderful local cause. Please join us in being a part of a special day!

Blessings on you,

Pastor Dave
