VBS Report

First Church Family,

This week our Christian Life Center has been abuzz with children participating in our first Vacation Bible School in two years. The experience has been wonderful. Titled: “Rocky Mountain Railway,” together we have learned about the power of God, which is available in all areas of our lives.

Many thanks to our Tara Hatton and Jamie Jones for their wonderful leadership; to our Danny Clark, who has gotten our facility ready to receive our volunteers and children every day and run the technology that provides music and video; to our Kay Lanier and her team who have made wonderful snacks for our attendees; and to our many volunteers, including numerous youth, who have led and cared for the thirty-two children who have participated.

Update on Corona Virus response: last Sunday, we again marked off every other pew in our Sanctuary and separated tables in CLC, making sure that those worshiping were distanced from one another; and also asked that visiting return outside following both services.

Earlier this week, our annual conference’s cabinet, composed of our eight district superintendents, communicated their recommended that we strongly encourage those attending worship to wear masks. After much conversation, our leadership recommends that we follow their advice.

Beginning Sunday, we will strongly encourage everyone attending worship in our two worship spaces to again wear masks, whether they are fully vaccinated or not.

Following those guidelines is extremely important as the Delta variant of the COVID virus is extremely contagious and our county’s vaccination rate is low.

We recognize the fact that persons in our community have different opinions about everything in our culture, including how to respond to this wave of the virus and that everyone isn’t comfortable with continuing to wear masks. However, we ask that when we are at church together, we take all the precautions necessary to prevent the virus’ spread.

Please continue to pray for our leadership as we follow God during this time.

Blessings,

Pastor Dave
