Christmas Is Not Your Birthday

Christmas Is Not Your Birthday

First Church Family,
I pray you are remembering whose birthday Christmas is, and making decisions accordingly. Our present worship series: “Christmas Is Not Your Birthday,” has called me to a new understanding of what things honor Christ during the Christmas season.
I believe that one of the things Jesus would desire is clean drinking water for His children. Over the past two weeks, we made the decision to provide crystal clean drinking water to a village in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
The project has received much support. Please pray about how you might partner with God in this holy mission.
In other mission news, this past Sunday, our youth, their parents, and their youth leaders cut, split, and delivered three large loads of firewood to families who burn wood in our community. The project is a traditional youth mission. Many thanks to our Jon Triplett, Danny Clark, Aaron Horn, Tara Hatton, and the many youth and adults who participated.
And now for a reminder of our upcoming worship schedule: This Sunday, December 19, we will worship at our regular times. The following Friday (Christmas Eve), our Candlelight Communion service will begin at 5:00PM in the Sanctuary (with the elements served inside until 6:30PM and drive by fashion outside by appointment – contact me if you are interested in receiving communion outside after 6:00PM). And on Sunday, December 26, we will worship in one informal service in the Sanctuary at 10:00AM.
I pray for God’s peace to descend upon all of us during this hallowed season.

Christmas blessings,

Pastor Dave
