First Church Family,
I pray that you are hanging in and putting your trust is God, our Rock, our Sword, and our Shield! I write that because there are so many frightening things happening in our world.
I’m praying both for Israelis and Palestinians. There are innocent persons on all sides of that conflict, especially when we remember that it’s Hamas and Hezbollah (and not all Palestinians and Arabs) who are the terrorists. My heart is heavy and goes out to all of them.
For more than a year, our Erika Murphy has served as both the director of Robbins Preschool and our children’s ministry. At Erika’s request, Staff Parish has separated those responsibilities. Erika will remain director of our preschool. And our Tara Blake has accepted the part-time children’s ministry position. Tara will be the staff person who coordinates both children’s Sunday School (which is already led beautifully by our Angie Meadows and Tara, herself) and also our church’s Sunday morning nursery.
Too, Tara will work with our Jon Beal on our Wednesday Groovin’ program, and be the staff person responsible for other children’s ministry events, including Vacation Bible School.
Also, Tara will bring her expertise in media, technology, and the arts to the position. Erika and Tara have worked together for many months and are a good team. Our church is fortunate to have both of them.
Let’s continue to pray for our world.
