Staff Up-dates

First Church Family,     I pray that you are hanging in and putting your trust is God, our Rock, our Sword, and our Shield! I write that because there are so many frightening things happening in our world.     I’m praying both for Israelis and Palestinians. There are innocent persons on all sides of that conflict, especially when we remember that it’s Hamas and Hezbollah (and not all Palestinians and Arabs) who are the terrorists. My heart is heavy and goes out to all of them.   …

Kendra Stuebe, from Christ Methodist Church in Hickory, will serve as our New Director and Lead Teacher. She has experience in the field and appropriate degrees and  credentials. Our own…

August Message

Dear First Methodist Family, In Psalm 40, David writes: I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. For the past weeks, we’ve remembered the promises of God, and how they bless our lives. God’s promises…

Preschool and VBS

First Church Family,At times, we think of summer as a period of time to relax, vacation, and get ready for the fall. While all of those dreams are partially fulfilled during this time, we are FUMC are incredibly busy following God’s plan. By now you certainly have heard that Melanie Anderson, our Robbins Pre-School Director of 27 years, is retiring this summer. Melanie leadership has kept our program at the top of the list of great pre-school programs in our county, and will be…

CHRISTMAS WITH THE PRESCHOOL

If you have a moment during the Christmas season, please go downtown and see the Robbins Preschool tree. It is directly in front of Riccoco Rionel (between the Antique Mart and the corner ice cream store). The children dressed as stars of the 50’s and 60’s, and they are adorable! Thank you to Helping Hands for sponsoring our tree!
